Healing your mind to heal your body

Our mindset is our greatest form of medicine and the power of our beliefs are so important for healing. Scientific studies actually show that your beliefs really impact your outcome. Transformational thinking can lead to healthier emotional responses and greater happiness and abundance — and those are things we all need in our lives!

The four elements of healing our bodies with our minds:

1. Believing and accepting that there is an intelligence that lives within us that gives us life.

2. Realising that it is the mismanagement of our emotions and the hormones of stress that really began to create dysfunction and disease.

3. Changing our thinking and rewiring our brain by developing an awareness of how we speak and think. Managing our stress response by not reacting negatively to our environment, can prevent our minds from signaling genes that cause disease.

4. Getting into a good, calm headspace requires our brain to overcome our natural stress response and develop healthier emotions. A healthier body stems from healthy emotions, so you can actually heal your body. In fact, the act of imagining doing something is just as good as actually doing it for our brains.

3 practical steps to change our thinking

1. Start every morning with a positive thought - “how can I be the best version of myself today?” Our physical state is directly connected to our emotional state so creating a more positive emotional state will be good for our health and bodies.

2. Practice gratitude at the end of each day. Spend a few minutes before bed giving thanks - in our minds or in a journal. There is a lot of research on the positive effect of gratitude on our brains. There are about twelve hundred different chemical reactions that help heal and restore our body that are triggered by gratitude!

3. Develop awareness of the space around you. Take a few moments each day to sit quietly and sense your space. Pay attention to your environment and become really aware of it. When you practice this every day, you create space for your brain to develop healthier stress reactions and that is the key to healing.
