Healing is a process, not an event

Healing is a process, not an event.

Your body is amazing, it has an inbuilt intelligence within to heal and regenerate. It can heal cuts, bruises and even broken bones, but it requires time and the right environment to allow this repair process to take place.

The loss of health - sudden or a process?

You can lose your health in a short moment or more commonly gradually over time. Either way, you can lose your health in an event or a process, but you can only regain or maintain it in a process. Processes always occur over time.

You may have a sudden injury such as an accident which immediately changes your state of health and limits your full expression of health. This can have temporary or permanent consequences on your health.

More commonly, you may lose your health gradually in a process over time. Contributing to dis-ease within the body. This can happen when innate healing processes within the body are overwhelmed by physical, emotional and/or chemical stressors and the health of the body degrades over time, leading to pain and symptoms.

There is no process which does not require time.

The Sixth Principle in Chiropractic states there is no process which does not require time, including the healing process. BJ Palmer (the developer of chiropractic) believed that with time and clarity in the nervous system, the body can heal itself.

Healing takes time and we don’t heal overnight. Why? Because a decline in health can occur suddenly or take time. But improving or maintaining health is a process, not an event.

Your health is either getting worse or it’s gets better

Your health is either improving or declining. You either thrive and develop or go the other way. You can’t change your past, and although you can plan your future, it’s the actions of the present moment that guide you towards your future plans and goals. What are you doing today to swing the forces of health in a positive direction? Ask yourself, am I as healthy today as I was 5 years ago? Will I be healthier 5 years from now than I am today? Creating health is not an event, it is a process. The lifestyle changes you make today will contribute to your health in the future.

Chiropractic is a lifestyle, not a treatment.
